No secrets or orders here. These days, there are more and more whimsical ways for fans of the Harry Potter series — adults and children alike — to live out their fantasies around the world. As written in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: “Let us step into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.”
1. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
West Coasters, prepare to be delighted. In addition to Orlando’s theme park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will open April 7 at Universal Studios Hollywood. Explore the mysteries of Hogwarts castle as you make your way through the classrooms and corridors, then soar above the castle grounds on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. Learn the proper way to approach a Hippogriff before you take off on Flight of the Hippogriff, a family-friendly coaster that spirals and dives around the pumpkin patch, and swoops past Hagrid’s hut. Visit the shops of Hogsmeade, sample Butterbeer, and dine at Three Broomsticks to round out your day of magical thrills and excitement.
2. Potions & Elixirs
In Toronto, newish tapas bar Lockhart brews cocktails like “Ludo’s Debt” and “The Shacklebolt.”
3. Coffee for Muggles
4. Butter Brew Lattes
The just-opened Bad Owl Cafe in Henderson, Nevada started brewing a quickly popular and often sold out caffeinated spinoff of butter beer. The fun wooden tables are labeled espresso patronum, and pay tribute to the late Severus Snape.
5. Frozen Butterbeer
In Quezon City, the Nook Cafe Phillippines serves up frozen butterbeer and crafts owl latte art. Potterheads can play games and read books next to inspired wallpaper.
6. Hogwarts Express
Anyone who’s on board with the series will want to stop by the famous 9 ¾ platform, which is actually by the tracks in St. Pancras, London. We can't think of a better place for an obligatory photo.
7. Harry Potter Exhibition
This traveling exhibit of artifacts, costumes, and props has been on the fly since 2009. Heading to Brussels this spring, it's an interactive experience with a Quidditch area, classroom settings, and the inside of Hagrid’s hut.
The grand Library of Trinity College Dublin, also known as The Long Room, is stacked with musty volumes. It's a portkey to any bibliophile's heart. Maybe stay a while and reread your favorite HP book.
9. Wizarding Weekend
Already getting set for a Halloween blowout weekend, this charming small town in upstate New York will once again turn into Diagon Alley. Last year, the fair was complete with hot cider and broomsticks.
