Meet the Real Shelter Dogs of Florida … and They’re All Adoptable!

Your weekly installment of friendly peer pressure to adopt a dog.

Ah, The Real Housewives of Miami, we hardly knew ye. Gone too soon, a mere three seasons was not enough of our fave ladies in the Sunshine State. While we sadly can’t bring you more classic moments with Mama Elsa, we have the next best thing, a whole mess of cute dogs — meet the real shelter dogs of Florida, courtesy of the Humane Society of Broward County!

The Humane Society of Broward County, located in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., is a nonprofit dedicated to providing shelter and aid to all the animals entrusted to their care. Their love and compassion for responsible adoptions doesn’t just start and end with dogs, the shelter also takes in cats, rabbits and other small furry friends. Believe us, when our idea for the Real Shelter Hamsters of Florida takes off, they will be the first people we call … Sample tagline, “Some say get off the hamster wheel, I say enjoy the ride.” (Hey, we’re still working on these.)

And now meet your Real Shelter Dogs, complete with opening credits-worthy taglines!

“I sit, stay and speak, but I can win you over with no words.” – Chucky

Chucky (ID 582313), aka “Mr. C.,” is a super-smart cookie, and he’ll do just about any trick in the book if you give him one! He is a neutered male, white and brown Australian Cattle Dog mix, about eight years old.

Others may try to lead the pack, but I'm always the one in the front.” – Lucille

“Once in his life, every man is entitled to fall madly in love with a gorgeous redhead.” – Lucille Ball. Why not our Lucille (ID 584931)? There’s nothing not to like about this sweetie! She is a tan and white Labrador Retriever mix around two years old.

“These pupper dogs are back on the scene, and living the dream.” – Taino & Indio

Taino (ID 584473) and Indio (ID 584474) are two dogs that have quite a few frequent flyer miles to their names. This reserved yet regal duo flew all the way here from Puerto Rico to seek shelter after Hurricane Maria. They are a bonded pair who should be adopted together.

“Some diamonds are rough around the edges, but not this girl. I shine, shine, shine.” – Diamond

Diamonds certainly are a girl’s best friend. This precious girl Diamond (ID 585326) is as affectionate as can be. She is a blue and white American Staffordshire Terrier mix, around seven years old.

“If you don’t like my smile, then don’t scratch behind my ear.” – Sadie

Sweet, single female seeks active and affectionate playmate. Must tolerate public displays of affection.  Sadie (ID 547281) is a spayed female, tan and black German Shepherd Dog mix, around five years old.
