It was with heavy hearts that we had to report Bethenny Frankel’s beloved dog Cookie passed away yesterday. The 17-year-old pup had been as much a part of The Real Housewives of New York City — and the Bravo family — as her kind and generous mama.
Despite losing her four-legged best friend, Bethenny honored her commitment to appear on Watch What Happens Live last night. Andy Cohen immediately addressed the tragic news, calling it a “really sad day, in all honesty.”
Bethenny’s voice cracked and tears shone in her eyes as she talked about Cookie. “She had a beautiful life, and it was a little bit of a torture sending because I was with my daughter, and she had a very, very long, long seizure and … it was a brutal weekend... It was not pleasant but, you know what, she lived a really long and amazing life.”
When Cookie’s crisis began on Saturday night, Bethenny turned to social media for help. She shared a video of the dog’s frightening condition and begged her followers for advice. “I know my dog’s convulsing. What do I do? My daughter’s watching this and we have to do something. The vet is 40 minutes away. Help us! I don’t know what to do!”
On WWHL, Bethenny directly thanked all of her followers for their assistance and support. “You all have been so unbelievable. Thank you so much…We talk about social networking and people say bad things, etc…It was Saturday night, I did not know what to do in the middle of a seizure with a dog ... and thank you all for being included and being loving... She’s at the rainbow bridge.”
Bethenny reveals what's next for her, following this great loss, below.
