Remember that time Chris Evans tweeted a picture of himself snuggling with his rescue dog Dodger, along with the caption “Really missing this guy right now,” and then the internet-at-large assumed that Dodger had died and everybody sent their condolences, including Seth Rogan?
Well, Dodger wasn’t dead—it was just that Chris’ photo caption was a little bit misleading. The erstwhile Captain America quickly clarified that he just really, sincerely, missed his dog Dodger more than anything in the world.
Well that was July, and it is now September, and as such, Chris and Dodger have finally been reunited. And thankfully, some good samaritan captured video of their touching reunion—‘cause honestly, we think we’re owed that (at the very least) after the emotional rollercoaster they put us through earlier this summer.
Dodger is a rescue that Chris adopted while filming the movie Gifted (costarring fellow dog enthusiast Jenny Slate). He told People, “One of the last scenes we were filming was in a pound, a kennel. I foolishly walked in and I thought, ‘Are these actor dogs or are these real up for adoption dogs?’ And sure enough they were, so I was walking up and down the aisles and saw this one dude and he didn’t belong there. I snagged him and he’s such a good dog.”
Reunited and it feels so good—for Chris, Dodger, and the collective internet!
