If you moved seamlessly from your Bachelorette obsession right into scheduling your week around Bachelor in Paradise 3, you may be wondering — Googling — where all the drama and romance is going down. And we're here to tell you.
The show was filmed about a mile away from the central area of Sayulita, Mexico, a relaxed beach town along Mexico's Pacific coast. It's accessed by flying into Puerto Vallarta's pretty chill airport, just a three-hour nonstop flight from Los Angeles.
Specifically, Bachelor in Paradise 3 filming took over the Sayulita resort called Playa Escondida — the very same one the show used for filming during its last incarnation!
Playa Escondida is a secluded property, a 30-minute walk into Sayulita, situated right on the beach and surrounded by lush jungle-covered hills.
It's meant as a place for relaxation, so the property accepts limited kids among the guests — and bans inflatables and pool toys. (Which to us seems like a bummer for grownups — where would we put our drinks if not in our floaties' cup holders? But we digress.)
If you plan a visit, you'll be in the right place for epic al fresco yoga and massage — but you should know the area gets crazy hot and humid around this time of year. So much so, in fact, that some businesses in town just close up shop because it's too uncomfortable for tourists. Surfing, or at least a good jump in the sea, cools the body down quick — so there's your round-the-clock plan if you're traveling in summer.
Rooms here are completely open and have beach, jungle, and canyon views from five palapa-topped bungalows located a quarter-mile from the main Playa Escondida hotel.
Expect to pay up to about $500 per night for a beachfront accommodation. BYO love affair.
