What a Hollywood happy ending—if they end up together.
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck are putting their divorce on hold, a source tells People.
Ben and Jen, both 44, announced their separation in June 2015, but never pulled the trigger on a divorce.
They aren’t fully back together yet but have decided to try to work on the marriage.
“Jen has called off the divorce,” a source close to the actress says. “She really wants to work things out with Ben. They are giving things another try.”
Another source says it was also Ben’s idea, adding, “There is always a chance of reconciliation. They love each other. They also really, really love their kids, and those kids love their parents.”
The following day after the Oscars, Ben and Jen hosted a small party at their L.A. home to celebrate their son Samuel’s 5th birthday. Daughters Violet, 11, and Seraphina, 8, wrapped presents for their little brother and had a cake. The source said it was a happy occasion.
“The girls had wrapped presents for Sam, including superhero toys. They had a cake. Everyone seemed happy,” says the source.
The reconciliation talk comes just days after the two were ready to call it quits for good.
“Jen was telling friends that she plans on filing for divorce,” the source says. “She just wanted to move on and focus on the happy things in her life. She was exhausted from all the ups and downs.”
The two announced their separation nearly two years ago, but remained on the same property and often took vacations as a family together,
“They want to keep the family together,” the source says. “Ben is making a big effort to take care of himself. They are not back together, but there seems to be hope. Jen is hoping they can stay married. Ben doesn’t want a divorce either.”
