Well, what did you expect from the son of a rock star?
Mick Jagger’s new baby’s name has been revealed—and it’s a tongue twister. Ready for it? Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger. Yes, four names.
We break them down:
The French surname Deveraux is used for his first name; it stems from “d’Évreux or "from Évreux," a town in Normandy, France.
Octavion’s origins come from the Roman name Octavianus. When Roman emperor Augustus was named Julius Caesar’s adopted son and heir, he was called Octavianus.
Where to begin with Basil? You grow it, it smells delicious, then you toss a few of those bad boys on a margherita pizza and bam! Try to eat just one slice, just try. But really, it is sweet: the food and the meaning of the name. Mick’s late father was named Basil Fanshawe "Joe" Jagger. It's a Brit thing.
Finally, we have Jagger. It means to shake one's hips and rock out on stage until you drop dead. Not really, but come on—it fits. Born in 1943, the English rocker is the frontman for The Rolling Stones. If you didn’t know that, something is very wrong and you should see a doctor. Or come out of your bunker. If you’re in a bunker, how are you reading this?
Anyway, Mick’s daughter Elizabeth posted a snapshot (which has since been deleted) of the newborn on Friday, with the caption, “My beautiful baby brother Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger.”
Elizabeth is one of four children Jagger had with Jerry Hall. He also has children with Marsha Hunt, Bianca Jagger and Luciana Gimenez Morad.
Mick, 73, and and ballerina Melanie Hamrick, 29, welcomed DOBJ on Dec. 8 in New York.
Deveraux is the eighth child for Mick.
