Park City Travel Guide: The 20-Degree Town That's So Hot Right Now

Grab your popcorn (and plane ticket) — the winter’s hottest film festival has begun!

Though the thermometer may beg to differ, Park City, Utah, is red hot right now. The Sundance Film Festival kicks off in the mountainous town today, bringing loads of celebrities ready to eat, drink, party, and — oh, yeah — watch some movies. The fest runs until January 29, so there’s still time to hop a flight and land in time for some major star sightings. But whether you’re headed to the ski town now or later, here’s how to travel there in style.

1.  Stay at the St. Regis Deer Valley

First thing’s first: Book your plush accommodations. Snuggled up to the base of the Wasatch Mountains, this St. Regis property makes it easy to hole up in comfort. Beds are swathed in Egyptian cotton, there’s an on-site spa that offers divinely hydrating facials, and there’s 24-hour room service. But don’t leave your rugged side too far behind — there’s also ski-in/ski-out access, and a dedicated ski valet.

2.  Grab a Drink at High West

Of course, the best part of skiing is the whole après part. Grab a post-slopes sip at High West Distillery and Saloon, which has the distinction of being the word’s only ski-in/ski-out distillery. Fancy that! The menu — and look — is inspired by the Old West, and signature sips the pineapple-infused “Giddy-Up Jupiter.” (Which, frankly, just sounds fun to order.)

3.  Have a Spa Day at the Waldorf Astoria

Feeling a little run down from all that mountain action? Book a spa day at the local Waldorf Astoria. (But truth? You never need an excuse to spend a day here.) The luxury hotel has 15 treatment rooms and a menu of Ayurvedic and Eastern-style services. To really make the most of the tranquil spot, book the the Mountain Serenity Package. It offers a 75-minute body treatment, a 50-minute massage, and an 80-minute facial and pedicure. Oh, and you’ll also get a shampoo, a blowout, and a healthy lunch. Yep, seriously. (#Bliss.)

4.  Try to Spot Robert Redford at Zoom

You can’t subsist on Giddy-Up Jupiters alone. When mealtime strikes, book a table at Zoom. Founded by Robert Redford, the restaurant is housed in a former train station. On the menu: cocoa-nib scallops, falafel with pomegranate molasses, and — fingers crossed— a view of the silver-screen icon slash owner.
