If you’re feeling at all salty about 2017 so far, get ready for some news that should hopefully add a little more flavor to your life.
Nusret Gökçe, A.K.A #SaltBae, A.K.A. Showman/Internet Legend, has announced that he will officially be opening a restaurant in the United States in the near future, according to a report from New York Post.
If you aren’t familiar already with #SaltBae, shame on you, but allow us to get you quickly up to speed.
Ok, all caught up? Excellent. He’s a chef/restaurant-owner with an unrivaled flair for showmanship and/or salt. That's pretty much the whole story, but naturally, the Internet is into it. Really into it.
Now, Eater reports that Gökçe has plans to open extension branches of his chain restaurant, Nusr-et, in both NYC and London. Currently #SaltBae operates six steakhouses and two burger joints in Turkey and Dubai.
The details about when and where his U.S. location will open are a little up in the air (the New York Post reports Midtown, though Eater debates the actual address), but you can certainly bet that Gökçe’s signature salt move will be on full display. As he told the Hurriyet Daily News “That move…came naturally. I did not do that to show off. It is just my signature. It was just a final touch to the meat; I was blessing the meat.”
So there you have it. #Blessed by #SaltBae
