There's a new member of the TODAY Show family. Anchor Savannah Guthrie and her husband, Mike Feldman, welcomed son, Charles Max Feldman, into the world on Thursday, December 8 at 8:59 a.m., Matt Lauer announced on TODAY Friday.
The little boy will go by Charley, and his first and middle names were inspired by Savannah's late father and Mike's grandfather, respectively. He weighed in at 9 pounds, 8 ounces and measured 21.5 inches long. "Mama and Dad are doing great," Matt said on TODAY. "It is one cute little boy."
TODAY's official Twitter account shared the first photos of Charley Friday, and his cuteness could grab headlines.
Matt had the privilege of being one of the first TODAY anchors to meet Savannah's little one when he visited the family in the hospital Thursday. "I was called in to bring wine, so we may have had a little toast," he said. "I tell you, the minute I walked in the room, Charley pooped and peed, so we know everything's in working order."
Savannah couldn't have been more excited to share her happy news with the world. "We are so grateful. Blessings overflow. Along with tears of joy," she tweeted Friday.
She also thanked her TODAY colleagues for their sweet celebration of the new arrival on the morning show on Friday. "I teared up when I saw my friends this morning," she said. "@MLauer @alroker @hodakotb @tamronhall @DylanDreyerNBC @WillieGeist - thank you."
Savannah fittingly broke the news of her own pregnancy on TODAY in June. Charley is the younger brother to Savannah and Mike's 2-year-old daughter, Vale. Unlike her first pregnancy, Savannah chose to learn what Charley's gender would be before she gave birth. "I thought, it's already enough upheaval for a little girl to have a new baby — we got to tell you what kind of baby," she said when she revealed that she would be having a boy on TODAY in September. "So baby brother is on his way in December!"
The TODAY team is also set to welcome another baby this year. Dylan Dreyer is also due to give birth to her first child, a boy, this month.
