The show you never knew you needed until you heard it existed is almost here.
Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party has released its first trailer ahead of its early November premiere on VH1. The unscripted show will feature Stewart and Snoop working together to plan and cook a dinner party for different celebrity guests each week. Stewart told Variety the show would “exemplify America’s fascination with food, entertaining, and celebrity,” and also “redesign the traditional food show competition.” (Who knows what that mysterious sentence means, but they have our attention.)
It's probably safe to assume that Martha’s emphasis will be on the dinner and Snoop’s on the “pot”luck. And while the two may seem at first glance like an odd couple to co-host a reality show, the duo actually has quite a bit in common. Both have spent time behind bars. Both killed it at The Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber (where they maybe got high together?) Both love making mashed potatoes. And, as Snoop told Good Morning America, “my homegirl Martha and I have a special bond that goes way back.”
In the meantime, please enjoy this trailer of the two dancing together.
We’ll be very interested to see just how this all works out, and what sorts of surprises they’ll bring to the show each week.
Will this partnership turn out to be, as Martha herself might say, a "good thing" for the universe? Only time will tell.
