We're Obsessed With These Photos of Meryl Streep Dressed Up Like Our Favorite Foods

The actress is starring in one of the most delicious roles of her life.

Meryl Streep is famous for taking on the most challenging roles around, radically transforming her appearance and accent to play everyone from Margaret Thatcher to Julia Child. Now, she's starring in one of the tastiest roles of her life—although she doesn't have to work nearly as hard as she usually does. That's because she's the subject of the latest Instagram food sensation, Taste of Streep, which makes brilliant mashups of Streep appearing as a series of yummy desserts (like the Samoas Girl Scout cookies above) as well as savory dishes.

The account is the brainchild of Samantha Hoecherl, 25, an actor (and Bravo mega-fan) based in Brooklyn. "It sort of just happened one day," Hoecherl explains. "I came across this really great photo of her from She-Devil and paired it with a strawberry-frosted doughnut. It wasn't until a few months later that I literally woke up one morning and decided to start the account. I guess the only real explanation I can offer is that I'm a fan of Meryl Streep and I'm a fan of food, so why not put them together?"

Hoecherl was involved in drama and visual art growing up, and she recalls first hearing Streep's name when checking out an off-Broadway performance of Fame. "There's a song in the show called 'Think of Meryl Streep,' and after purchasing the soundtrack and singing —screaming — the song in my bedroom for weeks, it dawned on me to find out who Meryl Streep was," she explains. "Meryl Streep is a legend; I admire her career, her talent, her sense of humor and her intense love for her work. At the end of the day, although it might seem absurd, this is my love-letter to two of my favorite things in life: incredible acting and great food."

Her Taste of Streep images are inventive and whimsical, color-coordinating various foods with Streep's many looks from the movies. "I taught myself how to use Photoshop during a hurricane in New York a few years ago, and I've developed a bit of an obsession since then," Hoecherl admits.
