The Real Housewives of Atlanta star arrived at minimum-security federal prison Thursday in Lexington, KY to begin serving an 8-year sentence for fraud. But before he went inside, he shared an emotional video online, thanking fans for their love and support. (Watch it below.)

"I have finally arrived at the penitentiary," he says. "I am about to go asunder. Thank you for the support and prayer. Stay tuned. And you'll hear from me shortly."

Phaedra Parks' husband had also tweeted earlier, "I would like to say thanks 4 everyone's support & thanks 4 holding me in prayer I've arrived 2 my destination and I'm going asunder."

Earlier this year, Apollo Nida pleaded guilty to charges of mail, wire and bank fraud in Georgia. He was sentenced on July 8 to eight years in prison.

Appearing before the court in May, he expressed regret and said he took "full responsibility for his actions," which included defrauding various individuals and financial institutions. "It was a dumb situation I put myself in....It's my fault at the end of the day. I got sucked in and engulfed and lost sight of things."

Days before he entered prison, Apollo gave an interview to Forbes where he shared his two biggest regrets about his actions. "The first is not being true to myself. When I came out of prison the first time, I told myself that I never wanted to be in this situation again," he said. "I had numerous talks with myself. I knew how to stay out of trouble but I lost focus. I didn’t stay true and I found myself quickly caught up in the same lifestyle I left six years prior. When I came home from prison, I wanted to be different. I wanted to live an honest life. I really did. I should have stuck to my guns. My second regret is letting my boys down. Now, my kids are going to have Christmas without their dad because of my decisions. Although I let them down, I will never stop loving them."
