This week's Top Chef elimination was a bit of a shocker -- Jennifer Carroll was not only sent home, but she did so in a blaze of (un)glory. She spoke back to Tom and the other judges during Judges' Table, but her mic also picked up her cursing and yelling after she exited the elimination room. Although she reiterates that the judges made the wrong decision in her exit video, she seems apologetic about how she handled herself. She tweets, "I have so much respect for the judges and my fellow chefs and truly did not mean any disrespect to any of them."
Comments on Bravotv.com and Twitter are a mixed bag today as some fans vehemently argue that Jennifer was not the right person to be sent home. Commenter "WRONG WRONG WRONG" left this comment on my Team Top Chef blog: "Jen was robbed. Shame on you." Other commenters like JLR78 simply responded to Jennifer's remorseful tweet with "I COULDN'T TELL!!"
Yikes! What do you think of Jen's "apology?"
Regardless of how I feel about her "apology," I'd note that I'm pretty sure this is the first time in Top Chef that a cheftestant's mic "picked up" what she said after leaving the elimination room. That was not inadvertant. It was intentional...something to make her look more petulant than any other eliminated chef. A questionable move by the producers to say the least.
Eli commented that "With her longevity working for Eric Ripert, she has acquired many of his quality traits."
It's too bad she's not yet learned the traits of humility and grace. You may be a good chef, Jen, but you have a lot left to still learn about being a classy one.
She was hot and cold on Top Chef, it showed on this episode. Her talk back did not bother me but her wet bacon sure did.
I sure hope they pick her up somewhere else during this show. That she receives a new opportunity. She's a strong woman, other Male Chef's did worth things than to talk back, remember Spike and the Frozen Scallops? This time I think the person that should off go home instead of Jen, could had being Antonia. Trust me I LOVE & Adore Antonia, but Tiffany and her did a real bad dish, unappealing to the eye and the palate.
I never paid that much attention to Jen, but I think that what she did was fair, just like Bourdein made fun and bad mouth, Fabio's dish. She and the other chef's have the right to defend their dish with passion.
Shame on Bravo!!!
Ya know, In the Las Vegas Tour of Duty, she started off strong and litterally fell apart. Now during All Stars, she starts off strong and gets too cocky.....I believe she is a great Chef, BUT, listen to your adversaries, and make everything costructive - not so critical. Believe in yourself, and you can conquer all!

I thought Jenn was a cool gal during the LAS VEGAS season. She was clearly nervous, self-conscious and usually blushing throughout the season but she was definitely not an immature drama queen. It seemed as though she felt she had something to prove in season 8. Her personality and attitude for all stars was a complete, complete 180 from how she came across in the Vegas season. She displayed straight crazy. I don't know what happend to her in between the Vegas season and the all stars season but she lost one fan after her exiting performance on the show last Wednesday. Jenn, you're loonie girl! The only person you should be mad at is yourself.
