It's no secret that Donald Trump's inaugration has stirred up plenty of controversy. And, his wife Melania hasn't escaped some of the shade that's been thrown the president-elect's way. For example, designers such as Tom Ford and Sophie Theallet have said that they want no part in dressing the incoming FLOTUS. So, what will Melania wear at Friday's big event?
According to WWD, the former model will sport looks from Ralph Lauren and Karl Lagerfeld. (Melania will need two looks that day: one for the swearing-in, and one for the evening balls.) Though Ralph Lauren has dressed Hillary Clinton multiple times, Melania also wore plenty of his designs on the campaign trail.
She wore a black jumpsuit from the designer during the third debate.
And, she also wore a white dress by Ralph Lauren on election night.
As for wearing Karl Lagerfeld, WWD notes that it would have sparked controversy in the past for the wife of a U.S. president to wear a non-American designer. However, Michelle Obama left a fashion legacy that changed the rules on all that. "Obama also made first lady citizen-of-the-world dressing an acceptable option — and even one laudable one, a diplomatic outreach of sorts," the publication says. Keep in mind, though: these designers are only rumored to be dressing Melania for Friday's events. (One thing we can absolutely confirm about Karl? His cat Choupette is launching a new scented candle. Just in case you're interested.)
Whatever she does choose to wear, we're sure Melania won't skimp on the glamour. According to multiple reports, she's planning to build a glam room in the White House. Her makeup artist Nicole Bryl told Us Weekly: "here will absolutely be a room designated for hair, makeup and wardrobe. Melania wants a room with the most perfect lighting scenario, which will make our jobs as a creative team that much more efficient, since great lighting can make or break any look."
