Affordable European airline easyJet is trying to make travel... well, easier for its animal-loving customers by giving them the opportunity to book a pet sitter while booking a flight. The best part? It's free.
The budget airline's hospitable initiative is thanks to a partnership with TrustedHousesitters. Super pet-centric, the EasyJet x TrustedHousesitters deal works two ways. People looking to find a sitter for their furbaby while they're out of town can easily locate someone in their area. But! It also gives certified pet sitters the opportunity to find a free place to stay — and pet sit — during their next trip.
EasyJet reportedly added the free service following a survey that revealed pet care (or lack thereof) played a huge role in how much (or how little) pet owners traveled.
"By helping holidaymakers find trusted people to look after their pets and homes or by helping them to find free accommodation in return for housesitting," the brand's ancillary revenue director, Andrew Middleton, said in a statement, "we will make travel possible for even more people."
Likewise, TrustedHousesitters' managing director, Tim Lyons, agreed that "peace of mind" will inevitably "make travel easier and more affordable all around."
Will it actually make people want to take EasyJet though? Well, let's just put it this way: The fur-friendly news does manage to distract from the airline's previous antics like appearing to have a crewman repair a plane with duct tape and accidentally serving 10-year-old food to customers.
(Hey, at least the pets will be all right.)
