Here's How a Hawaiian Airlines Flight Took Off in 2018 and Magically Landed in 2017

But what the heck does Cher have to do with it?

Ever feel like you're moving backwards in time? You would if you flew from the Southern Hemisphere to the Northern Hemisphere like 2018's first viral flight of the year.

According to PEOPLE, a Hawaiian Airlines flight in Auckland, New Zealand took off 10 minutes late at 12:05 a.m. on January 1, 2018 and, due to a 23-hour time difference, landed in Honolulu, Hawaii at 10:16 a.m. on December 31, 2017.

ABC reporter Sam Sweeney noticed the year-rewind flight and Tweeted about it.

His fun fact garned equally fun responses on Twitter. Many of them borrowed GIFs from Back to the Future.

Others opted for Doctor Who and Twilight Zone references.

And more than a few were reminded of Cher's hit "If I Could Turn Back Time."

Crossing the International Dateline is routine for seasoned travelers, but it sure seems more magical when it happens on December 31.
