This week the models had an underwater shoot. Let's talk about everyone's performance. How was Branden?

On the water shoot he did really well. He's starting to get it and he's starting to see it. He's becoming a force to be reckoned with.

The judges yelled at him this week for being cocky.

Yeah. Calm down dude. Don't get so cocky. A lot of them are getting cocky and it turns around and bites them in the ass. To be eighteen and going into something like this, it requires a lot of maturity. He's eighteen and growing up in America's eyes right now and you gotta give him a little space sometimes. You reel him back in and let him know what's up. I had to do that.

What about Jonathan?

He's doing well. He still has a problem with his arms when he walks. They're coming down a little bit, but I'm trying get them down.

What about Sandhurst?

He finally found one and that's gonna be good for him. You don't really see when I'm mentoring them and what I'm doing with the guys, but they know what they wanna show, but I think America's losing out on what I'm telling these kids. I told Sandhurst he needs to slow it down and if he really wants to do well in this business he needs to listen to the direction that I'm giving him, ask more questions with the photographers, and understand what we're trying to achieve. A lot of kids go in there and they think they know what the photographers want, but if you don't know something you should ask. He's finally asking the questions to get the right answers to achieve the right shot.

What about Gabe?

Poor Gabe. He honestly was just working hard to change what he was doing. The guy's really a sweet guy. He's very reserved so you don't see a lot of different emotions with him, and you need that to be a successful model. The kid does have some emotions, but he was never able to pull them out in time for the show. It's sad and I wish him all the best.

What did you think about his relationship with Amanda?

I say find love later and get serious about this competition. If you really care about eachother and you want to make something happen, do it after the show.

Colin?

Hopefully he'll keep listening to direction.

Branden has the looks of a young Paul Newman. You just don't see faces like that everyday. Every glimpse of him on camera makes me MELT. However, I am getting a little tired of him constantly reminding us how he "loves the laaadies". Ok you're straight: we get it. Enough. Hetero models aren't new - relax babe!

I think it's necessary to keep him in check without killing his enthusiasm for the craft - there's a fine line there, hopefully Tyson will use professional discretion there. He must realize that these kids are digesting every single word he says as gospel truth.

I love this show. Well, ok I love watching Tyson on the show...it would be more exciting if someone with a personality was his sidekick though - hmm, how about Naomi Campbell? =) Now THAT would be amazing...

Alex -
I think you're right... Branden is young and easily excited about every experience... from photo shoots to the runway. When he looks at his photo and says 'awesome!' ... I don't think he's saying he thinks he looks awesome. He's saying that the whole experience, resulting in the photo, was awesome.

The judges, especially snarky Perou, are so 'worldly' and jaded that they misunderstand Branden. Maybe the kid can hang in there long enough to prove himself.

Now if the judges call Jordan cocky... well:)

: 04/09/2009 - 7:05pm; Alex; Really Tyson...what is with you? A few weeks ago you were praising Branden and fawned all over him one night and even called him "my brother". Then last night you turned on him...threw him under the bus..and said that you doubted that it would ever happen for him. Honestly...where do you stand? You either see potential or not and the kid was not cocky. You (and the others) misread his so called cockiness for exuberance and spontaneity. He's 18 years old for God's sake. Just keeping up with the 20 somethings is a remarkable achievement for him. If anything he needs encouragement and guidance from you...he's still young and impressionable enough to listen to you. You have the ability to guide this boy...far more than the others...they're older and more independent. If he really is "your brother" then treat him like one and help him.

Tyson, what possessed you to have full-sleeve tattoos - and would you accept new models who had such markings?

I like the show ... and you ... but at times you come off as 'cocky' too!

He proves you can be a great photographer without being an ass.
Perou should take note. (And by the way, can you tell him he just looks like an arrogant jerk wearing sunglasses indoors - and ugly ones at that).
