Mariah Carey’s $60 Million Italian Rental Is as Over the Top as Her Engagement Ring
Talk about a sweet, sweet fantasy.
What kind of place do you rent when you’re traveling abroad if you’re the girl with a $10 million engagement ring? Well, a $60 million historic Italian villa oughta do it.
While in Italy performing her Sweet Fantasy tour, Mariah Carey is living a sweet fantasy of her own, staying in an epic, eight-bedroom villa on Lake Como. The residence — known as Villa Napoleon I — was built in the 18th century and was later home to the opera composer Vincenzo Bellini.
And are you ready for this? It’s actually an Airbnb listing, which we know from Mariah’s silky lingerie-clad Instagram snaps:
The home has soaring ceilings, symmetrical layouts, and ornate moldings and frescoes. Appropriate for the star, there’s a the double-height music room, with an antique piano and tufted sofas. The formal dining room has a ceiling fresco by Andrea Appiani, and there’s a second Tuscan-inspired dining room.
The cost of a nightly rental hovers around $12,000 with a seven-night minimum stay.
The manse has sweeping views of the lake, and eleven working fountains on its grounds, which also have a private dock on Lake Como.
The pool terrace is surrounded by citrus trees, a greenhouse, and a 12th-century bell tower.
There’s a gym and a kids’ playground as well as two playrooms indoors — score for dem babies!
And no threat of boredom here — uh, obviously — given the property has its own bar, home theater, and billiards room.
By the way, the property also comes with a V.I.P. neighbor just down the road: Lake Como’s most famous property owner, George Clooney.
Not for nothing, but Mariah’s sick rental easily tops Beyoncé’s $50 million digs during her Super Bowl stay. (Although, if anyone’s offering, we’d gladly stay in either.)
