Here's How to Create a Project Runway-Ready Bun Hawk with TRESemmé Products

Ready for the runway? Creating high-level hairstyles with TRESemmé products has never been easier. Paid Partnership with TRESemmé.

As Season 20 of Project Runway winds down, we're reminiscing on all the edgy, glamorous, and chic designs that have come down the catwalk over the years. In addition to the stylish clothes, there have also been the original, high-fashion hairstyles that have inspired us to go outside our comfort zones with unique takes on classic looks.

How to Watch

Watch Project Runway on the Bravo App and on Peacock

To help us along is celebrity and TRESemmé hairstylist Lacy Redway who delves into her inspiring personal story in the video above. All too often, women can feel like they're in what's called a "double bind" — one minute they're "too emotional," and the next they are "too quiet." Faced with a conflicting message coming up in the industry, Lacy instead embraced her own personal style to ultimately become the successful individual she is today.

Considering TRESemmé's commitment to empowering women on their own terms, there's no one better to bring both inspirational and individual styles to the forefront.

In the fail-proof steps below, Lacy, who's worked with the likes of Project Runway's Season 4 winner Christian Siriano, shows us how to create a head-turning bun hawk inspired by Bravo’s Project Runway catwalk.

Follow the simple instructions to achieve this look and shop the below TRESemmé products to craft the ultimate end result:

Bun Hawk

  1. First, spray damp hair with the TRESemmé Pro Infusion Fluid Smooth Hair Tonic Water
  2. Then, section the hair into three vertical sections before adding the TRESemmé Extra Hold Gel to each section. With a flat brush, brush each section upward and to the center of the head. Tie the sections off with an elastic.
  3. Apply the TRESemmé One Step 5-in-1 Blow Dry Balm from midshaft to ends of the pony tail for added moisture before layering with gel for more control. Wrap the hair down to the base of the ponytail, then secure with bobby pins
  4. Mist the finished look with the TRESemmé Ultra Fine Mist Hair Spray to tame unwanted flyaways and lock in the style.
