Get to Know the Other Hadid Sister Ready to Take Over the Fashion World

The stylist discusses her new capsule collection & why she and sisters Gigi and Bella are drawn to the biz.

By Jocelyn Vena

At this point, the names Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid are synonymous with the word "fashion." Having risen the ranks in the modeling world, the two Real Housewives of Beverly Hills daughters are now style A-listers. However, there's another Hadid sister who is one step closer to becoming a household name. L.A.- based stylist Alana Hadid (who is Gigi and Bella's half-sister from father Mohamed Hadid's first marriage) has teamed up with clothing brand Lou & Grey on an affordable capsule collection filled with go-to pieces, like funky bandanas, clutches, and a sweatshirt emblazoned with Alana's nickname, Lanzybear. The Daily Dish caught up with Alana, who talked all about the line, the one person she'd really love to see wearing her clothes, and what draws the Hadid sisters to the world of fashion.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on Peacock and the Bravo App.

Talk a bit about bringing your sensibility to the Lou & Grey brand? How would you sum up this collaboration?

Alana Hadid: I really connected with Lou & Grey right off the bat. I visited one of their stores before it opened and felt at home there. Their aesthetic is very much mine — it’s structured, comfortable, and fun. I also really felt like they immediately understood my design ideas, and I consistently feel inspired by them. It's been a fun role reversal. I strived to make this capsule collection very wearable and wanted it to look like something I would wear, but also be able to connect with a girl who was maybe a bit more girlie. It’s fun but functional and comfortable.

What’s it been like to mix your L.A. flair with their NYC aesthetic?

I really think that our aesthetic was in line from the beginning. It has been fun to get to add a little of my flair, I loved injecting my own little ideas for patterns or colors. The best things have come out of mixing their ideas and mine and going from there.

Obviously all the pieces are fabulous, but if you had to buy one piece from the collaboration what would it be?

I know it sounds cheesy, but I would really buy all of them. They are my babies, so it’s hard to pick just one, but I'm crazy for the bags. I think those bags could be in a boutique in Paris and would sell for 100 times the price, they are really cool.

Which celebrity or style tastemaker would you most love to see in the collaboration?

I would be excited to see anyone in it. I saw a picture of some of the girls from Lou & Grey wearing the sweatshirts and I died. I think It would be cool to see Rihanna in it — I would feel really cool then! It would be cool to see anyone rocking a bag or a bandana, I have seen a few people wearing them, and I was so blown away. But no joke, anyone wanting to put on a sweatshirt with my nickname on it, or something I worked on to be on their bodies would make me feel like a rock star.

How would you describe your own personal style?

I think it's eccentric and very personal to me. I like to be sexy sometimes and really comfy other times. I think that my style is like my mood, its changing constantly but always mine.

What is your favorite thing about fashion?

I love fashion, and I really love how fashion can give you your own voice without ever opening your mouth. I think it’s great that with fashion you can express anything, layer and layer or just wear all black, it all says something about you. I love to play — fashion should be playful and fun, and that’s how I look at it when I wake up every day and get dressed.

Obviously you and your sisters have really made a name for yourselves in style and fashion. Why is it that you’re all drawn to that world?

I think my whole family just loves fashion because there is so much to play with in that world. There are really no boundaries here, and we are drawn to that idea. I think that we are creatives and, all in our own ways, fashion has just allowed us to be ourselves, which is so fulfilling. To do what you love and get paid for it is such a great experience.
