And if you're old enough to enjoy the latter (21-plus folks need only apply!), Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel is offering up some of her tips to enjoy a marg or two this May 5.

The Skinnygirl mogul shares with Mashable her pick for a bueno margarita to drink this Cinco de Mayo: the #SorryNotSorry margarita, which gives a spicy lime twist on the traditional cocktail.

It features Mexico's infamous spicy green chili pepper but Bethenny advises to be careful with them. "By the way not all jalapeños are created equally, so know what you're dealing with," she advises. Duly noted. In addition to the spicy pepper, you'll also need Skinnygirl ready-to-drink margarita, lime peel, chili powder and, of course, coarse salt.

As for making the traditional salt rim on the glass, she notes that using a lime to coat the glass works as a great base. And she even mixes up the salt, adding some sugar and chili powder for a muy caliente spin. "It's a little more creative twist on salt," she explains.

She then takes the Skinnygirl mix, shakes it up with some jalapenos and pours. Be careful though—judging by her reaction from drinking it, there can be a kick. "The spicy lime margarita is the reason why I live," she adds.

Just make sure you aren't tempted to pick up your phone after a few. Bethenny recently advised those newly single folks out there not to drink and text.

"Don't text and call and drink and obsess—it's so hard," she says. "I really think that you should process and go through it. Leave it all on the table and be vulnerable so you don't second-guess yourself and then build yourself back up."
