Kandi Says Todd and Mama Joyce's Relationship "Was a Whole Mess" After BravoCon 2022
Kandi Burruss revealed where her husband and mom stand after RHOA Season 15.
It seems the Kandi Burruss household has become much more peaceful over the last few months.
On Day 1 of BravoCon 2023, The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member was asked to provide an update on her husband, Todd Tucker, and her mother, Mama Joyce Jones. It’s no secret that the two have had a rocky relationship over the past decade, as they appeared to be on friendly terms one year, only to reignite their beef in the next.
The drama was fueled during BravoCon 2022, when Mama Joyce was asked to “say three nice things” about her son-in-law. And her answer wasn’t exactly sweet. Mama Joyce said Todd was “still short,” that he “shaved his beard some,” and that he’s “very nice to his kids.”
Her shady response drew laughter from the audience; however, Kandi revealed it caused a lot more tension in their family. She shed light on the issue during the BravoCon 2023 panel, Viva Las Atlanta Peaches.

“At last year’s BravoCon, Mama Joyce made waves with her shady comments about Todd,” moderator X Mayo told Kandi. “So what is the status of their relationship right now?”
“They are doing great right now,” Kandi responded, which was met with some mild skepticism.
“I feel like every interview, every reunion, everywhere, [you say] ‘They are doing fine!’” the moderator continued.
Kandi didn’t hesitate to push back.
“No, no, no. I don’t always say that,” she said. “We were going through it for, like, at least seven to eight months after BravoCon [2022]. That BravoCon last year set it off in my household. They weren’t talking. If she came around, Todd would leave. It was a whole mess. I guess over the summer, he decided to let it go. They started communicating. She comes over and hangs out with the kids.”

Todd and Mama Joyce’s relationship was addressed in RHOA Season 15, when cast members Shereé Whitfield, Marlo Hampton, and Sanya Richards-Ross discussed the shady comments at BravoCon 2022.
“At this point, I’m shocked that Mama Joyce is still saying negative things about Todd,” Shereé said.
Marlo also weighed in on the topic in an interview, saying: “Kandi needs to stop talking about me. She needs to start fixing what’s going on under her roof. Because the streets are talking, and the streets are your mama.”
