Here's What Finally Set Sonja Morgan off About Luann de Lesseps Dating Her Exes
The Real Housewives of New York City mom never seemed to be upset about Luann de Lesseps' relationships with Tom D'Agostino and Harry Dubin until now.
Dating your friend's ex is considered a big violation of Girl Code in some social circles, but that's just par for the course for The Real Housewives of New York City crew. The members of this Big Apple bunch famously have the same taste in men, with Sonja Morgan and Luann de Lesseps in particular going after the same guys. And Sonja was actually pretty cool about Luann getting flirty with Harry Dubin and then later marrying Tom D'Agostino, both of whom she had dated first.
But all of that changed this season of RHONY. Sonja finally seemed to be a little bit peeved about Luann dating her exes during their girls' trip to Miami.
Sonja explained during Wednesday night's Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen After Show that when Luann dated and ultimately got engaged to Tom, she didn't want to say anything because she could see that her friend really wanted to get married. "I thought, if this is gonna save my girl — because certainly me being with Tom wasn't gonna save me — I said, 'I'll just suck it up,'" Sonja said (clip above). "There's less traffic, take the high road. I'll do that."
However, Sonja reached her breaking point when Luann didn't seem to be acting like a friend toward her this season of RHONY. "But then when she was throwing bombs at me and saying I'm on pills and not being there for me in Miami, I'm like, you know what, I've had it," she said. "You go with all my guys. The pirate was my guy. Harry was my guy. Can't you find your own guys where I do? I find my guys under rocks."
Sonja shared a similar sentiment about Luann and Tom during a recent interview with Decider. "I didn’t appreciate her going with Tom, deep down. But I sucked it up for her well-being, because I thought, ‘Well if she really loves Tom, and they’re so great together,’" she said. "I didn’t see it happening, but I wanted to preserve my relationship with Luann."
And really, when it comes to Sonja's friends getting with her exes, such as Ramona Singer being spotted sharing a smooch with Harry, she'll always stick with her girls. "At first I was saying, ‘I don’t care that Ramona was with’…what’s his name? Harry Dubious?" Sonja told Decider. "The thing is, I’m more upset with Harry because he’s always proclaimed his love for me."
