OMG! Dave Coulier Dishes on Alanis' 'You Oughta Know'
How much of Morissette's anthem is really about her ex-boyfriend? Uncle Joey responds!
Admit it: you've banged your head and screamed along with Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know" at least once in the nearly twenty years since the song's release. It's a break-up standard. It's a scorned woman's anthem. And it's also famously about Dave Coulier, the ex-boyfriend of Alanis.
The men of Full House have been making headlines lately as they recently reunited for a yogurt commercial that's set to run during the Super Bowl, and the Watch What Happens Live Clubhouse was the latest stop on their impromptu reunion tour. Andy Cohen didn't spare Dave in the slightest as he seized the opportunity to ask him what he thinks of his ex-lover's song.
For a segment dubbed You Oughta Know This About Uncle Joey, Andy walked Dave through the song lyric-by-lyric and asked him how much of it was true-to-life. It seems much of it was fact-based, indeed: even the "go down on you in a theater" line hit close to home. "You do that pop corn cup trick one time, and it comes back to haunt you," Coulier cracked.
The surprises didn't stop with Andy's take on Alanis: Candace Cameron Bure, who played DJ on the beloved sitcom, surprised the guys by coming by the Clubhouse to help them out with some Full House trivia. Their faces when she shows up? Priceless.
We're kind of loving the return of Full House, even if it all comes to an end during their commercial spot at the Super Bowl. Or does it? Should the guys (and Deej) keep it up with this trek down memory lane? Let us know in the comments.
