The Summer House cast member addressed the inquiry during a live tour of her NYC apartment.

In the two years since their romance began, Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover have been constantly pressed about the future of their relationship: Are they planning on moving in together? When will they finally get engaged? And are they open to starting a family someday? Although the Summer House cast member has made it clear she’s quite happy with the long-distance relationship, Paige recently admitted she wants to have a baby — a fur baby, that is.

How to Watch

The New York City-based podcaster/fashion writer shared the information during a live tour of her Manhattan apartment. The August 24 broadcast concluded with a Q&A session in which a viewer asked if Paige and Craig would ever get a pet together.

Paige DeSorbo says she "would love to get" a pet

“I think that this apartment was made for a cat,” Paige said. “Like, if you just saw an orange cat coming around this side, you would be like, ‘That just makes sense.’”

The Summer House cast member admitted she “would love to get an animal,” but had her hesitations.

“Let me tell you something: I watched my friend’s cat for three days and I almost threw him off the balcony,” she continued. “I couldn’t take it. He woke me up every morning at 4 a.m. as if he was on stock market time. I don’t know what he was getting up for."

Paige went on to say that her apartment building allows pets and she does, in fact, “want to get one"; however, she’s concerned that a furry family member “would be very hard to keep alive.”

“Maybe one day. One day,” she said. “And it would probably be at Craig’s house because he has a backyard.”

As the stream continued, Paige noticed that the live chat participants were urging her to get a black cat. But the East Coast native wasn’t completely sold on the idea.

“I know. I feel like I am a black cat. How many cats can you have in one apartment?” she jokingly said. “And my boyfriend is very much a golden retriever and has a lot of energy… so to have two animals would just be a lot.”

She continued: “I have a lot of things that they will knock off, and that will really, really get under my skin. I feel like I have a lot of surface areas that if a cat just looked at me and then knocked something off, I would fight it. So, there’s that.”

Fans got a closer look at the couple’s relationship in Summer House Season 7, which highlighted their disagreements about finally moving in together. Paige expanded on their issues in Part 2 of the Season 7 reunion special, saying she knew Craig “wouldn’t be happy in New York” — at least not on a long-term basis.

So, why was Paige opposed to relocating to Charleston, South Carolina? Her family was a big factor.

“People sometimes don’t talk about how scary it really is getting older and growing up,” Paige explained. “I have only known living in the state of New York, I’m very close to my parents, and the thought of being a plane ride away to my family when I’m starting my own family was very scary to me — it still is very scary to me.”

Paige and Craig’s relationship issues will also be explored in the upcoming season of Southern Charm.

“I’m not trying to plan a wedding right now,” Paige told her boyfriend in the Season 9 trailer.

“Why would we date if we’re not gonna take the next step?” Craig responded.
