Dorit Kemsley gathered the ladies of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for a charity event in honor of her work with the Homeless Not Toothless organization, and the gala turned dramatic and somewhat chaotic but also highly emotional as Lisa Rinna opened up during it about her mother Lois’ passing. But it soon turned joyful as soon as — SPOILER ALERT — music superstar Melissa Etheridge took the stage during the party, which was featured on the August 10 episode of RHOBH.

How to Watch

In The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show, Dorit reflected on the fact that “the energy was so intense in the room seconds before Melissa came out onstage, and the second she sang her first words, the energy completely changed.”

From there, Dorit spilled more secrets about the party, including how it was Paul “PK” Kemsley’s idea to have the “iconic” singer-songwriter perform at the event. You can hear more about that night from Dorit and the rest of the RHOBH cast in the clip above. (And you can also hear more about the night below.)

Dorit opened up about the special event and her work with the charity in an Instagram post ahead of Wednesday’s episode. “Tonight’s episode holds a special place in my heart — it’s not just dinner with the girls. We have a special guest joining us and I’m introducing one of my favorite nonprofits, [Homeless Not Toothless], to them all. [Homeless Not Toothless] provides free dental care to the underserved — homeless veterans, foster youth, domestic violence survivors, and more,” she wrote. “It’s all happening soon and you don’t want to miss any of it!”

Lisa Rinna took to Dorit’s comments to reflect on what ended up being a highly charged and emotional evening for her, writing, “What a beautiful party! I’m so sorry my breakdown happened during your most spectacular evening. Thank you for all of the love and support, Dorit, I love you.”

BTW, Melissa Etheridge chimed in on Twitter with her reaction to her RHOBH moment, writing, “I have [a] new calling!!” when it comes to defusing dinner-party drama:
