Dolores Catania Says It “Hasn’t Been Easy” Being in the Middle of Teresa and Melissa’s Feud

The RHONJ cast member referred to the family drama as “nastier and uglier” than it’s ever been.

The long-rumored-about feud between Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga is brewing on Season 13 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and fans are starting to see why the family members are no longer on speaking terms.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 14 premiere May 5th at 8/7c on Bravo and stream next day on Peacock.

While some of the other RHONJ cast members are taking sides in the drama between the sisters-in-law, Dolores Catania has been friends with both Melissa and Teresa for years.

As one of the few neutral parties in the drama, Dolores found herself in quite a sticky situation on Season 13.

“There’s so much hurt going on here, and there’s so much behind-the-scenes going on. And I think it’s nastier and uglier than it’s ever been,” she said about the falling-out between Teresa and husband Luis “Louie” Ruelas and Melissa and Joe Gorga when she appeared on the We Should Talk series for In the Know by Yahoo!

As a result, Dolores said, some of the women have wondered why she isn’t aligning with one sister-in-law over the other.

“So now it’s coming to the point where it hasn’t been easy amongst the women for them to not feel some type of way about me that I’m not jumping on either side,” the mom of two continued.

Though being in the middle has become much harder now that Teresa and Melissa aren’t speaking to each other (and after the Gorgas chose not to attend Louie and Teresa’s August wedding), Dolores is still choosing to be loyal to both parties.

“But not now and not ever do I let somebody else dictate how I handle things,” she continued. “It’s never been easy to not pick a side because of what people say to me. And to be honest, I don’t really care what someone thinks or what someone says. And that’s how I maintain it.”

Dolores is remaining neutral, but she does have an opinion on what should happen with the feuding family members.

“I just think it’s time for them to really part ways,” she said of Teresa, Joe, and Melissa during the February 7 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. “I don’t want that… but if there’s no peace in their life being together, then I think it’s time.”
