Where Jax Taylor Lived Before His Days on Vanderpump Rules

Jax Taylor is undoubtedly a man who gets around the world.

By Jax Miller

The Valley’s Jax Taylor certainly got around during his eight seasons with Vanderpump Rules, but he also got to see all over the world before establishing himself as a bonafide Bravolebrity.

How to Watch

Jax now finds himself in the new series The Valley, with Vanderpump Rules familiars Kristen Doute and wife Brittany Cartwright, airing on Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo. Based on the show’s preview, it seems Jax is still on the go, even if it is in a child’s electric car through the Los Angeles suburb.

Let’s look back at where Jax is from and the places he’s lived leading up to his unforgettable Bravo days.

Where is Jax Taylor from?

Jax has long called Michigan his home. He was born in Shelby Township in Macomb County, about 30 miles north of Detroit, according to several reports. In a December 29, 2017 Instagram post paying tribute to Jax’s late father, Ronald Cauchi, Jax said Detroit was his father’s home. Clearly, there's a lot of Michigan pride for Jax.

Where did Jax Taylor go to school?

As previously reported by Bravo’s The Daily Dish, Jax graduated from Shelby Township’s Eisenhower High School and later attended Michigan State University before dropping out and shipping off for the U.S. Navy (more on that in a minute). A few years later, he returned to Michigan, where he was scouted by a modeling agent at a local K-Mart.

In 2018, some of the Vanderpump Rules cast — including Stassi Schroeder, Brittany, and Kristen — joined Jax to visit Michigan’s Mount Clemens to celebrate Mr. Cauchi’s life.

In 2021, Jax visited Michigan with his son, Cruz, to celebrate his birthday, a good indication Jax isn’t soon forgetting where he came from.

Shelby Township has served as a rooted place, not just for the Vanderpump Rules alum, but for several notable names, including Buffalo Bills linebacker John DiGiorgio, Winnipeg Jets hockey player Kyle Connor, stock car racer Robb Brent, and poker world series champion Joe Cada.

Where Did Jax Taylor serve in the military?

It might come as a surprise that Jax Taylor served in the U.S. Navy, first training at the naval station in Norfolk, Virginia, he explained to The Daily Dish in 2018.

“I was in the Navy for four years, and I was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, on an aircraft carrier called the Roosevelt,” said Jax. “I drove special forces around, Navy S.E.A.L.s, and stuff like that.”

Jax spent some of his time stationed in Kosovo, but “he doesn’t like to say much about it, only that it happened," according to a 2016 profile in Complex.

In response to claims that Jax was being less-than-truthful about his time in the service, Jax clapped back with an Instagram post circulated by several celebrity mags. In the statement, Jax doubled down, listing “the facts” alongside a photo of a young Jax in his U.S. Navy uniform and military documents (Bravo translation: Jax came with receipts).

According to the statement, Jax joined the Navy in 1999, attended school at Lackland Air Force in San Antonio, Texas, and attended boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois.

He served one tour in Kosovo.

Jax’s modeling travels and beyond

Jax traveled extensively to pursue his modeling career, first in Miami and then in New York City, where he signed with Ford Models, according to Men’s Health Magazine. While in the Big Apple, Jax bunked with actor Channing Tatum and The Valley’s Jesse Lally and traveled back and forth to Europe.

In 2005, he found his way to Los Angeles, he told PEOPLE in October 2023.

At some point, Jax’s parents relocated to Tarpon Springs, Florida — about 30 miles northwest of Tampa — and he regularly visited the Sunshine State as a home base throughout his Vanderpump Rules days. In fact, according to The Tampa Bay Times, Jax revealed during a film festival Q&A that he’d packed his car and planned to move to Florida from L.A. when Lisa Vanderpump notified him and asked that he join Vanderpump Rules’ premiere season in 2013.

Where does Jax Taylor live now?

Jax is now based in Los Angeles, California.

Jax recently called the City of Angels his home in the aforementioned PEOPLE interview when discussing his and Brittany’s new sports bar, Jax’s Studio City.

“It’s a weird thing. I’ve been [in L.A.] since 2005, and I never really felt like I’ve lived here,” Jax told the outlet. “Michigan is my home because that’s where I’m from… but now that I have an establishment with my name on it, it actually just makes me feel like I own something here.”

Jax added, “This is finally my home.”
