Stephanie Izard is one busy lady. The Top Chef all-star runs Girl & the Goat in Chicago (it’s still impossible to get a table there); she also helms Little Goat Diner across the street. And that’s not all: Izard is busily preparing to open her first Chinese restaurant, Duck Duck Goat, in Chicago this year. How does she keep up with it all? Lots of coffee.
The Bravolebrity loves a good cup of Joe so much, she teamed up with Wyndham Grand to develop a happy-hour program centered on the caffeinated stuff. Called “Brew Parlor,” the afternoon service is newly available at Wyndham hotels across the globe (that includes outposts in Chicago, Qatar, China, and Turkey.) The drink list centers on cold-brewed coffee, which Izard uses in specialty beverages that are kind of worth hopping on a plane for themselves.
Example? The Five-Spice-Shaken Iced Coffee has the spicy-sweet thing down in spades, blending ingredients like sweetened condensed milk with star anise, Thai chili, cinnamon, and clove. Another tasty option is the Biscotti coffee, which pairs sweetened coffee with orange zest, spices, and almond whipped cream.
And, even thought it’s the afternoon, you’re on vacation. So consider trying one of the spiked coffee drinks, created by mixologist Ivy Mix. (Awesome name coincidence, right?) Start with the Spurred Ground, which adds dashes of sherry, vermouth, rum, and amaro to the cold-brew coffee.
We must say: Izard has never been one to embrace the mundane. Exhibit A? She served a Cheez-It cake at her wedding. So it’s no surprise the Top Chef has, er, risen above the daily grind on this one.
