Winter House cast member Malia White also revealed her yachting career plans to her one-time boss.
It's been a few years since Captain Sandy Yawn and Malia White have worked together on Below Deck Mediterranean, but the one-time colleagues are still in a great place with one another.
Captain Sandy paid a visit to Steamboat Springs, Colorado to see her former employees Malia and Katie Flood and the rest of the Winter House Season 3 cast (minus Tom Schwartz, who was back in California filming the Vanderpump Rules Season 10 reunion) on Episode 7, which aired on December 5.
The yachtie and her now-fiancée, Leah Shafer, hit the slopes with the crew, and she took a few minutes to catch up with Malia. Find out the latest in Captain Sandy and Malia's friendship by scrolling below.
Malia White Refers to Captain Sandy Yawn as Her "Mentor"
Before Captain Sandy and Leah met up with the Winter House-mates on the mountain, Malia spoke about her relationship with her former boss.
"Captain Sandy was the first captain I ever worked for in yachting, and she has guided me and kind of become a mentor in both my professional and my personal lives," Malia shared in an interview on the episode.
"We've also become friends, like Katie and I and Leah, I've kept in touch with them throughout the years," she added, before mentioning how the captain would do on the slopes. "Captain Sandy, she can hold her own."
Captain Sandy Yawn Asks Malia White for a Career Update
Once Captain Sandy and Leah arrived to the mountain and put their skis on, the Below Deck Mediterranean cast member took a few moments to have a one-on-one conversation with Malia.
She first asked Malia for an update on her life, and the Oregon native shared some major news about her latest career milestone.
"Well, super exciting news, I just got my chief mate's ticket," she said. "One step closer."
The captain then inquired about Malia's post-Winter House "plan."
"So, I just got promoted to second officer, and now I can start working on my sea time for Master's 3000," Malia said, before sharing that her goal is still ultimately to become a captain. "Then I'll be where you are."
"Well, I'm glad I got to be with you today," Captain Sandy said after she heard Malia's exciting news, and the ladies then decided to officially hit the slopes.
