Which Big-Time Celebrity Chef Calls Gwyneth Paltrow His "Favorite Sous Chef?"

The pair have actually enjoyed a 20-year friendship.

Gwyneth Paltrow may not have exactly earned the culinary respect of Martha Stewart, who recently denied that she shaded the cookbook author after quipping "Who's Goop?" to Andy Cohen. (Ooh, snap!) But her kitchen skills have gotten a big, public thumbs up from another famous food personality.

Mario Batali has had the opportunity to cook with some of the all-time greats, but he told People that Gwyneth, with whom he collaborated on the PBS series Spain... On the Road Again, is his "favorite" sous chef.

“She’s a great cook and she’s curious. But she also teaches me quite a lot. It’s a nice balance,” he said.

They've been friends for close to 20 years, during which time he's weighed in on her love life as she has brought various famous paramours to his NYC restaurant Babbo.

“He liked Brad Pitt, if you want to know," she shared with Vanity Fair last year. "Didn’t like Ben Affleck that much.” (Snap again.)

Eataly, the popular Italian food halls brought to the United States by Mario and partner Joe Bastianich, will open a veritable Disneyland of food in Bologna, Italy in November.
