Mariah Carey Gets Candid About Her Split from James Packer but Not so Much Those Backup Dancer Rumors

The singer got real about her love life on #WWHL.

Mariah Carey fans have been watching the legendary singer plan her now-defunct wedding to Australian billionaire James Packer on her E! reality series Mariah's World. And yes, it's just as uncomfortable for the Elusive Chanteuse to watch. "It's weird. It's, like, so weird. This is stuff that happened in my life for real," Mariah told one caller about reliving her former relationship on Mariah's World during the Watch What Happens Live After Show on Sunday night (clip above). "How do you talk about it? And it's also fresh. It's so fresh because it kind of just happened."

Mimi revealed her engagement to James in January 2016 after she was spotted wearing a reportedly 35-carat, $10 million diamond ring. But there was trouble in paradise this fall. Mariah's rep told ET that the couple was "not sure if they will stay together" after they had a fight while on vacation in Greece in September amid rumors that they had called off their wedding.

Mariah continued to get candid about her split from James with WWHL host Andy Cohen, who asked if she felt "stung by the breakup." "No. I think that everything that's meant to be is the thing that's meant to be," she said. "I don't want to go too far into it, but I believe that if it was supposed to happen, it would've happened."

The singer even touched on the more intimate details of her time with James, (sort of) commenting on reports that she and her ex-fiancé slept in separate beds and had not consummated their relationship. "Let me just say this — I'm kind of a very prudish person, and that's a simplistic way to say it," Mariah told Andy. "It's almost more self-protective, because why do I need to make somebody have a notch on their belt so they can say I did this or that?"

Mariah echoed that sentiment when Andy asked her whether the rumors that she and backup dancer Bryan Tanaka are dating were true during a round of "Plead the Fifth." "I'm not used to dating," she said (clip below). "I really am quite virginal."

When Andy asked if that was something that would be revealed later on this season of Mariah's World, the singer kept it coy. "Reveal is such an interesting word. I want people to watch the show," she said in response. "Honestly, I don't want to go into it because when something is real and it's such a beautiful thing, you don't want to trash it up, and it is what it is."

Mariah dodged a question about whether or not those reports that she and James were working on a $50 million breakup agreement are true. But when Andy also asked during the episode if Mariah planned on returning her engagement bling to James, she gave a short, sweet, and possibly telling response: "Why?"

Good question, Mariah.
