Last night's Top Chef left us all with some questions for Miss Betty. Appropriately, I tracked her down for some answers!
SO WE WERE LEFT LAST NIGHT WITH A LOT OF AMBIGUITY ABOUT WHO ADDED WHAT IN THE KITCHEN, BUT THERE WERE FINGERS POINTED AT YOU. DID YOU CHEAT?
I did not cheat. I knew that we had 500 calories total for our meal and I knew where we were in calorie count. I knew how much meringue we were making/serving and how much I was using. The nutritionist told us we had room to add things and I knew that I was only using a small percentage of the recipe that I was giving to the children.
BUT DIDN'T YOU ADD SUGAR?
I added extra sugar than the recipe I had given to the nutritioniost, but we still had 50 or 60 extra caloriess that we were allowed to add because we were under, and the portion of sugar I added was still way under the 500 cal total mark.
HOW DID YOU FEEL ABOUT BEING SINGLED OUT? WERE OTHERS ADDING?
Subsequent to the challenge, I've been told by others on other teams that the ones who threw me under the bus should re-point their fingers at themselves because they did the same thing. Mine was within the realm and theirs was not.
WAS THAT THE HARDEST CHALLENGE SO FAR?
I think so, because I am not used to dealing with calories when I cook. It puts restrictions on your creativity and that made it really difficult. Plus you want to do right by the kids.
SOME PEOPLE MAY HAVE SEEN THE SHOW AND THOUGHT YOU SHOULD'VE GONE.
Well that would be unfortunate because my intentions were pure and not of cheating. I felt we had the leeway and at no point did I think I was cheating or breaking rules. The cameras are everywhere so that would've been crazy to do.

I think he is selfish and has a bad attitude. Maybe that's how he played the game. You can't have friendships and be that way. He had a "holier than thou" attitude from the start. He's such an ego with not much to back it up.

That's a big compliment and big form of exposure.

I think they were off our Grub menu and I brought you guys bubble gum créme brulees. That seemed to be the most obvious thing to win you guys over!
