Chef Ben Robinson Explains What Below Deck Med Viewers Just Don't Get About Cooking on a Yacht

Below Deck Mediterranean Chef Ben Robinson explains what you don't see on TV.

Below Deck Mediterranean welcomed Ben Robinson to the Sirocco after a series of troubles in the galley left the yacht in serious need of a competent chef. And while he was glad to answer the call — and Captain Sandy Yawn was certainly relieved to see him back — he's the first to admit it's not an easy job. And in fact, he says, it's no wonder many fail at it.

"To be honest, I don’t think anyone understands anything about the job," Ben told The Feast at Bravo HQ in NYC. "Just to set the record straight, we are in charge of budgeting, cleaning, purchasing, provisioning obviously, all of the menus, all of the clients' likes dislikes, and all of the crew — and there’s one of us."

He added, "So, if you think i’m a little frustrated, then that’s probably why."

Oh, and for those potentially interested in the gig for the glamour and travel opps: You're hereby warned.

"There’s not a lot of people in the world that can successfully do that job really well," Ben told The Feast. "It's really tough. It's a tough position — hence the turnover in that position this season. You have to have the experience. You can be smart. You can be educated. But if you don’t have the experience, you probably will fail."
