As Paget Berry and Ciara Duggan plan their wedding after getting engaged in July 2020, there is one Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 1 crew member who's hoping to score a spot on the guest list: Captain Glenn Shephard.

"Yeah, isn’t that great?" Captain Glenn said of the couple's engagement during an exclusive interview with Bravo Insider. "I hope they send me an invite to the wedding. I’d love to go."

The news of Paget and Ciara's engagement didn't come as a surprise to Captain Glenn, who worked with the couple even before last season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. "I could see that coming for sure," he said. "They’re a great couple."

In fact, Paget and Ciara have become more like friends than just work colleagues for Captain Glenn. "I’m really close with them. We’ve worked together for quite a long time, and we hang out, we go snowboarding together and play golf together and all kinds of stuff like that. So we go carting and all of that kind of stuff, we do," Captain Glenn shared. "So they’re not just work mates; they’re friends."

So, who better to officiate Paget and Ciara's wedding than the Below Deck Sailing Yacht captain himself? He did very nearly marry a couple in Season 1, after all. "Great idea," Captain Glenn said with a laugh in response to that suggestion. "I’ll put it to them and see what they say."

As for what the couple has been up to lately, Captain Glenn said, "Ciara comes back-and-forth sometimes to help us out [on Parsifal III outside of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht charter season]. I haven’t seen Paget for a while. I think he was studying, doing courses or something like that. But I talk to those guys regularly."

Paget and Ciara aren't the only crew members from Season 1 with whom Captain Glenn still keeps in touch.

"I kind of chat with everybody here and there. But I’m especially close to, Byron [Hissey] is like one of my best buddies. He’s in the Caribbean right now, but him and I hang out quite a bit. Like, we spend Christmas together and stuff like that with his family," Captain Glenn said. "And then the rest, I kind of chit chat with them online a little bit here and there. I don’t think I’ve spoken to Parker [McCown] for a while. Or Adam [Glick] for a while. But I kind of talk with Jenna [MacGillivray] and, I was chatting with Madison [Stalker] recently. So yeah, I keep in touch with them. I mean, once you work on board a boat with people, it becomes kind of like an extended family."

When it comes to the other Below Deck franchises, Captain Glenn said that he especially enjoyed watching Season 5 of Below Deck Mediterranean, which took place in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, where he is currently based working aboard Parsifal III. He has also chatted with longtime Below Deck chief stew Kate Chastain, who memorably once boarded Parsifal III as a guest (clip below).

Captain Glenn said that he also "occasionally" talks to his Below Deck and Below Deck Med counterparts, Captain Lee Rosbach and Captain Sandy Yawn, respectively.

"I reached out to both of them before I did the first season just to kind of get an idea of what to expect and stuff like that. Sandy and I, we’ve chatted a few times and we did like a live Instagram thing together where people could type in questions and stuff like that. I haven’t spoken with Captain Lee for a while, but I need to reach out," Captain Glenn shared. "I think with COVID, I haven’t been able to travel. We’ve been restricted, so I’ve been mostly in Spain and Croatia [where Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 2 was filmed]. So I haven’t been able to go to the States or anything like that."

"Once travel restrictions have been lifted, then I plan to go to the States," Captain Glenn continued. "And I’d like to meet up with them in person."

Now that is a meeting we'd love to be a fly on the wall for!
