Here are three indisputable facts about fast food:
- Fast food is everywhere.
- Fast food tastes good.
- Fast food is not diet friendly.
So unfortunately, because fast food tastes good and is everywhere, it's sometimes nearly impossible to avoid—even if you're trying to be healthy. Because when you're standing in a travel plaza somewhere off the Pennsylvania Turnpike staring down a picture of a double cheeseburger with fries, with eight hours of a 12-hour car ride under your belt, convenience and taste are probably going to overrule sticking to your calorie count for the day.
Enter Khloe Kardashian, whose dedication to exercise, personal training, and athlesiure wear is well-documented on Snapchat, as well as her other social channels, and pretty much, well, everywhere.
Khloé, who PEOPLE reports lost 40 pounds via rigorous diet and exercise, recently published a blog post in which she shares the menu items she looks for when she's standing between the "Golden Arches and Colonel Sanders" and forced to make a decision.
And wherever she is, Khloe likes to hunt for chicken options, which tend to be high in lean protein. For example, at Taco Bell she chooses two soft chicken tacos from the fresco menu, which only rack up about 310 calories and include a low-calorie (and apparently delicious) pico de gallo topping. Khloe also says to avoid anything "smothered, supreme, wrapped in a Dorito or XXL-sized," which is probably a good rule of thumb no matter where you eat.
At other fast food chains, Khloe once again sticks to poultry, ordering the Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwich from McDonald's (360 calories) and the Kentucky Grilled Chicken breast with golden corn and green beans from KFC (310 calories).
While Khloe is hardly the first celebrity to share her advice for choosing healthier options at less-than-healthy restaurants, we feel a little more comfortable following her advice than, er, some of the other stars who have weighed in with their fast food thoughts. (~cough~ like websites owned by actresses we're pretty sure have never eaten fast food before ~cough~).
Now if only someone could come up with a diet that lets us eat as many fries as we want.
