If you’ve ever lived with a dog that needed to be crated, you totally understand how awful it is to live with a giant cage in your home. It sticks out (because when is it ever normal to have a cage in a room?). It somehow always looks messy. And your pup usually looks woefully sad when he's inside the metal contraption.
To be fair, crates can be quite beneficial for some dogs. A lot of dogs enjoy it and find comfort in being crated. It's just the whole cage thing. Optics, you know?
Luckily, they now make dog crates that don't look like cages at all. Many just look like pieces of furniture (think credenza, side table, coffee table) that your pet can duck into and chill in. Some of them actually look pretty chic and fancy; in fact, so much so that one Pinterest board called them "bespoke dog crates." It’s genius, and it’s completely baffling why it took so long for people to figure this out. Stupid humans. I have a feeling the pooches were trying to tell us for a while. If only we had listened sooner.
