Caroline Manzo Got a “Sad” Birthday Cake for Son Albie — and Daughter Lauren Couldn’t Let It Go
The Manzo'd with Children alum picked out a perfectly festive birthday cake, but her daughter was not feeling it.
Welcome to New Jersey, where Pasta Sundays are rote and birthday cakes are more outrageous than any you've ever seen. (Peep Exhibit A right here; here's Exhibits B and C and D.) But apparently, The Real Housewives of New Jersey and Manzo'd With Children alum Caroline Manzo did not get that memo about frosting having to be outrageously fabulous.
At a recent family gathering, the newly slimmed-down grandma unboxed a cake she'd picked up for her son Albie Manzo's 30th birthday. The white sheet cake said Happy Birthday Albie in jaunty yellow script, so hey! It was perfectly on message. It also had edible confetti draped around its edges. Festive... right?
Wrong! Well, according to Lauren Manzo Scalia. Caroline's daughter, who's been known to troll her mom, had this to say about the cake on her Instagram Stories. "You really went all out on that cake, it looks really beautiful," she said sarcastically." She added: "How sad is that cake?"
OK, point taken. It's not exactly like the adorable Minnie Mouse cake Lauren wrangled for her daughter Markie's birthday. But, we mean... it's not as sad as a pile of watermelon with a candle in it.
So, what's the verdict? You be the judge:
