Speaking at Airbnb's conference in Los Angeles over the weekend, Ashton Kutcher reminded everyone of a surprising fact: He was once married to Demi Moore. (You forgot that, didn't you, in the modern era of family life with Mila Kunis? We did too.)
Beyond that, he told Airbnb C.E.O. Brian Chesky during a panel discussion that he lived in Airbnbs for a year following his divorce from Demi. And that it was actually the warmth he felt from his Airbnb host that lifted him up at a very dire time.
“I went to Europe and I flew in and got in in the middle of the night,” he said, as cited in People. “I arrived at the Airbnb at 2 a.m. The person had left me dinner and a glass of wine."
He called the experience just "the magic and the love that I needed in that moment. I was shocked that someone would care that much about a total stranger.”
While many people might find similar comfort in the intimacy of Airbnb lodging, Ashton's also makes for a convenient story: He's an investor in the brand, which also announced at the conference that it would be expanding its offerings with its new "Trips" platform.
Of course, Ashton is far from the only big-name celeb who'd deign to crash in Airbnbs. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West scooped up a cherry $25 million NYC crash pad, Mariah Carey stayed in an $60 million rental in Italy, Britney Spears hooked up a $30 million place in Malibu, and Zendaya partied in an $18 million Brazilian manse — all thanks to the booking site and its celeb marketing strategy.
