When I hear of celebrities selling and buying homes for several million dollars, I often think to myself, “That’s a lot of money, but ya know, standard for a famous person.” But when you hear of someone selling their home for THIRTY-FOUR MILLION DOLLARS? First thought: That’s not just a lot of money, it’s holy-cow money. Second thought: I want to see what it looks like!

Which is pretty much how my train of thought went when I read that Ellen Degeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi just sold their Santa Barbara, California home for $34 million. Though the couple originally listed the 10,500-square-foot home for $45 million just last year, but fear not friends, the couple are still making a tidy profit, considering they purchased the 16.88-acre estate for $26.5 million in 2012.

“The house truly feels like it was built out of the landscape,” DeGeneres said on her broker Sotheby's web site. “It feels ancient, like it’s been there forever, like that hill was never without the house. This is a home that honours nature, and I love that.”

Designed with indoor/outdoor living in mind, the sun room overlooks Degeneres' pool and the ocean in the distance.

The rustic palette continues in the master bedroom, which comes with its own fireplace and a garden terrace that overlooks the pool and has ocean views.

We all know that Ellen loves a good game night, so it's no surprise that she devoted a room in her house to entertaining, with a pool table as the focal point (and the those ocean views coming in second place!).
