The Royal Baby Is Here and This Is What We Know So Far
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially welcomed their first child.
It's a boy for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry!
The royal couple welcomed their first child, a son, on Monday, May 6, their official Instagram confirmed. "We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz," the post said. "The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives."
The post added, "More details will be shared in the forthcoming days."
Markle and Prince Harry married last May after a whirlwind romance that culminated in a November 2017 proposal while cooking dinner at home. They announced in October 2018 that they were expecting their first child in the spring. The couple moved to palatial new digs at Frogmore Cottage in the 'burbs to get ready for the baby; they're even planting an organic vegetable garden to grow their own healthy food!
Markle maintained a busy international travel schedule throughout her pregnancy, often accompanying her husband on trips and sometimes even cooking or baking for different communities right up until February, when she traveled to New York City for a ritzy baby shower that raised eyebrows across the pond. Meanwhile, they hosted a charitable initiative on social media in honor of the royal baby, which used the hashtag #GlobalSussexBabyShower to help bring showers of donations to some of their favorite causes.
Congratulations, you two! Hopefully, we'll be seeing some official pictures soon!
