Carla Hall Actually Met Her Husband the Very First Day She Signed Up for Online Dating

The Bravo's Top Chef alum gives a thumbs up to matchmaking websites.

If you've always wondered whether online dating can workCarla Hall is a good example in its favor. The former co-host of The Chew and a Bravo's Top Chef alum, was used to deflecting her mother's request that she go to the grocery store, or anywhere, in hopes of finding a man after she turned 40.

My mother would call me every Saturday, saying, ‘Carla, are you going out? Are you going to church? Are you doing anything? Are you going to the grocery store?'" she told Yahoo Lifestyle. "'What are you doing outside? What are you doing?'”

But then, on a lark at age 42, her friends convinced her to join Match.com — and she met her future husband Matthew Lyons the very same day!

“I remember as soon as I saw her, my immediate thought was, ‘I’m done,'” Matthew told Yahoo. Even online dating skeptics have to say aww to that romantic sentiment.

The pair have been married since 2006 and have two wedding dates to celebrate every year, one for when they got their marriage certificate and one for when they celebrated with friends and family.

Carla is currently working on some new ideas for television and touring in support of her new cookbook Carla Hall’s Soul Food: Everyday and Celebration, which dropped on October 23.
