Inside Venita Aspen's Influencer Career: Fashion Week, Travel, & Bonding with Bravolebs
The Southern Charm-er opened up about all aspects of her job, from working with brands to connecting with a "very supportive" group of Housewives.
As Southern Charm viewers saw on Season 9, Episode 7, Venita Aspen's career as an influencer means she's constantly on the go.
While attending Jarrett "JT" Thomas' event, Venita explained to Craig Conover that she had to leave the group dinner early to fly to New York City for Fashion Week. At the time, she was particularly excited to attend the shows of "Kate Spade, AG Jeans, [and] Cult Gaia."
Venita Aspen's Influencer Career
In an interview during the episode, which aired on October 26, Venita explained why attending Fashion Week is part of her job. "As an influencer, some of the brands that I work with extend an invite for Fashion Week," she said. "So I get to attend shows on their behalf. I'm dressed by them, paid to be there by them. It keeps the relationship going, and it allows me to always be at the forefront of these brands' minds."
In a September 27 interview with BravoTV.com, Venita opened up about her most recent New York Fashion Week experience after attending several shows earlier that month. Although it was "great," Venita shared, "It was more overwhelming than normal."
"It was overwhelming in, like, the amount of people, and I'm not one to say that Fashion Week should be this selective thing. I don't think it should be," she explained. "But there has to be a way to like migrate all these people better. I got to some shows, and I couldn't get into some shows because the lines were too long. It doesn't matter who is working with you or for you or at the front, there was no way around it. I just made it overwhelming at times."
The feeling was "so strong" among many people, Venita said, that she anticipates a "new shift" in the way NYFW is structured in the future.
Still, she shared, "The shows that I went to — the ones that I did get to see — they were great."
Venita Aspen's friendships with other Bravolebs
In addition to seeing — and wearing —fabulous clothing, NYFW is also a great opportunity for Bravolebs to come together. Venita had a special night out with a "very supportive" group of Housewives while celebrating Sutton Stracke and Cynthia Bailey's recent business collaboration.
"I'm friends with Sutton, and Sutton and Cynthia Bailey have collaborated under one of Sutton's brands, So I got to meet Dorinda [Medley], Teresa [Giudice], Jennifer [Aydin], Dolores [Catania], [and] Luann [de Lesseps]."
Noting the event was "in Sutton's apartment," Venita declared, "It was a lot of fun."
She also "ran into Marlo [Hampton]" at a show that week. "I saw her, she didn't see me," Venita said. "I think it was the Alice + Olivia show, and her look for that show was really, really good."
Venita Aspen's Travel Essentials
Travel is a big part of Venita's job, to say the least. In the September interview, she noted she had been "traveling nonstop from May until [September 21]."
"There's never a moment where my suitcase is fully unpacked," she said. "because I always know I have to leave."
With that in mind, it's no surprise that Venita has become an expert packer. Although the contents of her suitcase naturally change depending on her destination, there are a few items she always keeps in her bag, including "Portable dental floss" with a dispenser. "I press a button, and one comes out at a time," Venita explained, "so it's sanitary and not messy."
"I never get on a plane without a throw of some sort," she added. "I typically purchase baby blankets. One, because they're cheaper, and two, because they're small enough to fit into your purse and carry-on, and they're not bulky."
She also prefers to travel with "wired headphones, because they won't die on the flight," and carries "a compact mirror with lights" as well as a "travel-sized perfume."
