The Salonniere bestowed the honor as part of its list of 100 top party hosts around the country. And she told the entertaining website more about her party style as part of the list's big reveal. Responding to a question about whether there are any conversation topics that are off-limits at a party in her home, Pat said, "As a hostess or host, you’re the ringmaster, and at your circus, you have to pay attention to everything, including the conversation at large. Are your guests playing nicely with each other?"

She continued, "I find that the two most incendiary topics are politics — especially these days — and religion." (Especially these days is right.) So there's one thing Pat says she just "refuses" to countenance.

"Lively discourse is one thing, but never get into an argument socially about these subjects, she said. "As much as I admire diversity and respect other people’s opinions, I refuse to get into a fight, because you’re never going to change anyone’s mind at a dinner table."

To keep things light, Pat stocks a serious home bar... and knows exactly where to find an excellent deal on top-tier champagne.
