Asa Soltan Rahmati Reveals the "Mystical, Hardcore" Story Behind Her Son's Birth
The #Shahs mom opens up about her little tyke's grand entrance into the world.
Asa Soltan Rahmati will never, ever forget January 20. That just so happens to be the day that the Shahs of Sunset pal welcomed her son, Soltan Jackson, into the world. And while she described the weather as "mystical," the events that unfolded that day sounded quite hectic.
"I want to give birth naturally, but, of course, whatever's the safest for the baby. And there was this crazy storm in L.A. and my water broke, which is a crazy thing, I thought. Very mystical," she recalled to The Daily Dish. "And I hadn't packed my hospital bag yet, of course, procrastinator. We rushed to the hospital. I go through fourteen hours of hardcore labor. I mean, it's crazy the kind of pain you're going through. It's not even pain; it's some other thing."
Soltan's big day was filled with one bit of drama after the next, as the new mom shared. "And then when your water breaks, you don't contract so they give you this medication to start your contractions," she said. "And that medicine makes your blood pressure come down, so they gave me a medication to bring my blood pressure up. And Soltan didn't like it. His heartbeat went from 152 to 40, it just dropped within 30 seconds. Long story short, I ended up having to have an emergency C-section, but I feel so blessed because he was perfect. His [Apgar] score was 9 out of 10 and nobody gets a 10, so he was a perfect baby."
Soltan is less than two months old, but his mom said that he's already taking after both his parents. "He's like a little Jermaine, but with Persian hair and an Asa chin," she said, referring to her longtime boyfriend and the proud dad, Jermaine Jackson Jr. "He's so gorgeous. He has such a personality. He's really macho and he's a tough guy and I can already see it."
