Below Deck's Chef Kevin Dobson Explains Why He Served This Controversial Dish
The chef reacts to charter guest Justine's criticism of his cooking in the Below Deck Season 7 After Show.
The Below Deck crew is used to fulfilling all kinds of requests from charter guests. However, Chef Kevin Dobson wasn't too thrilled to receive the feedback from charter guest Justine in the January 6 episode of Below Deck where she suggested that he go "more upscale" with his dishes.
"That was just bulls--t," Kevin recalled of the moment with Justine, whom he also called just an "Instagram chef," during the Below Deck Season 7 After Show, which you can view, above. "I was like, 'Where the f--k do you come off?'"
Justine, who previously noted her culinary background to the chef, cited the pizza and matzo ball soup Kevin served as examples of dishes that didn't seem to be up to luxury yacht standards. But Kevin said that the matzo ball soup, in particular, was a hit with one of the primary charter guests, whose "eyes started welling up" and she was "nearly crying" when he served it to her.
Kevin explained that he "put so much effort into" making the matzo ball soup, which was the first time he ever prepared the dish, because on the primary's preference sheet, it said something like, "If you make this matzo ball soup, you are our hero."
So if the two primary charter guests were happy, Kevin was happy. "I'm looking after these two," Kevin said. "They're primaries. And straight away then, I just know you're not a professional chef because [that's] something you would never say."
Will Kevin have more luck with the next group of charter guests? Tune in to an all-new episode of Below Deck on Monday, January 13 at 9/8c to find out.
