Reflecting on the firing in a recent interview with E! News, Captain Sandy said, "I stand by it. First and foremost, I don't fire people unless I have the facts, and, secondly, I don't fire people out of favoritism or non-favoritism. I fire people because if they're the one singular thing where everything else is evolving around them, that's the problem I have to eliminate."

The Below Deck Mediterranean captain, who's temporarily filling in for an injured Captain Lee Rosbach on Below Deck Season 10, shared a similar sentiment during a conversation with Camille herself. "The reality is, I have a charter to run," she said. "I have to have a unison on this boat."

And according to the crew's department heads, that wasn't the case with Camille aboard. So, as a final resort, Captain Sandy fired her. "The last thing I want to do is start firing his crew, so it's a very hard line," she told E! News. "But my main priority is the client, what's best for the boat. Happy crew, happy boat, happy client."

"When I'm a captain, I'm not there to make friends, I'm there to do my job," Captain Sandy continued. "Firing people is never fun, but I try to do it in a gentle way. It doesn't mean we've ended a working relationship."

As for her working relationship with Camille, Captain Sandy revealed that she actually encountered her after their time together on Below Deck: "I did a fundraiser for the maritime industry and she showed up. A lot of Below Deck people showed up that I didn't even invite and I thought that's pretty awesome because they love the maritime industry."

Still to Come on Season 10 of Below Deck!

That's not to say the two are "buddies," though. "She showed up, I love the support and it's like another colleague in the industry," Captain Sandy said. "So, good terms? I don't look at good terms. I have to say I'm very neutral when it comes to the crew."
