There's One Thing About Ben Robinson's Return to Below Deck Med That Makes Kate Chastain "Sad"

Ben Robinson's return to Below Deck Mediterranean this season has been met with nothing but excitement from past and present crew members. However, Kate Chastain wasn't so happy to see how the chef performed in the latest episode of Below Deck Med.

When asked what it's been like to see Ben struggle a little bit as he adjusts to life as a yacht chef again this season (more on that in the Below Deck Mediterranean Season 4 After Show, above) during an appearance on PEOPLE TV's Reality Check earlier this week, Kate said, "It makes me sad."

But seeing Ben challenged in this way hasn't been all bad. "I also think that it's a refreshing change because he's being very humble, but he still has his humor, he still has his accent, and he still has his crazy hair," Kate noted. "So to see him with all those great things but a little more humility was a nice change."

Ben announced in February 2017 that he would not be returning to Below Deck after Season 4. He previously appeared on Seasons 1 through 4 of Below Deck and in Season 1 of Below Deck Med. "He did Below Deck regular and he also did Below Deck Mediterranean, so he did two shows in one year, and that's just a lot," Kate said on Reality Check. "So I think he just needed to take a little break."

Kate previously showed how thrilled she was for Ben to be back on Below Deck Med on Twitter and Instagram earlier this season.

Ben gushed about the special bond he will always have with Kate and the rest of his Below Deck crew members he has worked with during an interview with PEOPLE in August. “I created brotherhoods and sisterhoods with everyone I ever worked with on the show. We’re all part of a family really, aren’t we? We’ve gone through something quite exceptional in our lives that a lot of people will not experience. It’s almost like going through a battle with someone," he shared. "We’re blood brothers. We have remained in contact and they’ll always be special people in my life.”

We'll see Kate back at sea when Below Deck returns for Season 7 on Monday, October 7 at 9/8c. See what's in store for the new season, below.
