Brittany Cartwright Admits Jax Taylor Often Snaps at Her — Even “in Front of Mamaw”
Brittany and Jax's arguments are only escalating on The Valley.
Say it isn’t so! According to The Valley’s Brittany Cartwright, fights between her and Jax Taylor have been viewed by the mother (or grandmother) of beer cheese.
The Valley cast headed to Big Bear Lake, California, to celebrate Janet Caperna’s Babymoon and get some fresh wilderness air on Season 1, Episode 9. But what Brittany hoped would be a nice getaway from the demands of real life quickly soured as tensions between her and Jax continued, months before the couple decided to call it quits.
“I’m so excited for girl time; I’m excited for me and Jax to get away together for a little bit without the baby,” Brittany told producers ahead of the trip. “I just want to let loose and take away from all the stresses like opening a bar and everything else that’s on our mind.”

But Jax’s temper was also let loose when the cast — minus Kristen Doute, Luke Broderick, and Zack Wickham — headed for some lakeside fun.
“Jax does not care how he talks to me in front of people,” Brittany later said. “He’s talked to me like this in front of my friends, in front of my family, in front of my dad, my mom … He just doesn’t care. Mamaw … He just doesn’t think it’s a big deal.”
Who is Mamaw?
Audiences who’ve followed Brittany and Jax’s relationship over the years should be able to recognize the name "Mamaw."
For anyone unfamiliar, Mamaw is Brittany’s Kentucky-based grandmother and the original chef behind Jax and Brittany’s line of beer cheese, which is available at the now-estranged couple’s shared bar, Jax’s Studio City. The delectable spread first appeared in 2018 on Vanderpump Rules and even gained a fan with the host of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
“Mamaw, it’s the grandson you didn’t know you have,” Andy said in a 2019 Instagram Story directed at the grandmother. “I’ve got to tell you something. I love your beer cheese. It’s amazing! It needs to be everywhere!”
Jax has also praised the grandmother’s cooking, including when he posted a photo of “Mamaw’s Breakfast of Champions” during a 2019 trip to Brittany’s home state.

Why are Jax and Brittany fighting?
Jax grew frustrated at the shorefront shindig when hearing the cries of their 3-year-old son, Cruz Michael Cauchi during Episode 9 of The Valley.
With Jasmine Goode and Nia Booko at her side, the mother of one put her phone on speaker while getting an update about Cruz during his swimming class back in L.A. The toddler was less than happy, screaming on the other end of the phone.
“I don’t want to hear that!” Jax said before attempting to snatch the phone out of Brittany’s hand. “Turn it off! Turn it down!”
Brittany said it was “so heartbreaking” to watch her son struggle in his lesson, though Jasmine rubbed Brittany’s shoulder while trying to reassure Jax that in one of the videos, Cruz was “doing great.”
Jax admitted he didn’t like to hear his son struggle, which was why he preferred to “walk away” during the child’s classes. At the Big Bear Lake event, he got up from his beach chair and walked away before packing his things, continuing to yell at Brittany to “turn it off.”
Brittany asked Jax if she was “allowed to be sad,” but Jax said he’d heard enough of the “screaming child.”
“I don’t want to hear the baby cry a hundred times,” Jax insisted. “That’s my child!”
But, as Brittany told Jasmine and Nia on the ride home, she was used to Jax’s tone of voice.
“He just annoys me, but it’s like my day-to-day, so I just breathe for a second, and then I move on,” Brittany said.
“You know how to handle it,” Nia offered.
Still, “it sucks sometimes,” Brittany admitted.
